Information We Collect

We collect the information you voluntarily give us if you create an account with us, create cause funds, donate to causes you care about or otherwise use our website or services. We collect from our website, online stores that install our DailyKarma app, online stores that integrate our plug-ins, and users that donate through our donation plugin and apps. This information may include your name, email address, street address, birth date and payment information (which processed through Stripe). If you want to take full advantage of the sharing features we offer we may ask you to create a publicly visible DailyKarma Profile which may include your name and photo.

When you fill in other forms on our website, enter a contest or promotion sponsored by us, fill out a survey, provide feedback or submissions to our website, or contact us through our website or our services, we collect the information you provide.

 

Information from Other Sources

On our consumer site www.causefunds.dailykarma.com, you can also sign up and log into our service using your Facebook account. If you sign up using Facebook, Facebook will ask your permission to share certain information from your Facebook account with DailyKarma. This includes your first name, last name, email address, general location, a link to your Facebook profile, your timezone, birthday, profile picture, your “likes,” and your list of friends.

This information is collected by Facebook and is provided to us under the terms of Facebook’s privacy policy. You can control the information that we receive from Facebook using the privacy settings in your Facebook account.

 

Information We Get from Your Use of Our Website and Services

We collect information automatically when you use our website and services. This information includes:

Device Information. We may collect device specific information (such as your hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information including phone number). DailyKarma may associate your device identifiers or phone number with your DailyKarma Account.

Usage Information. When you use our website or services or view content provided by DailyKarma, we automatically collect and store usage information. This may include details of how you used our website or service, internet protocol address, device event information such as crashes, system activity, hardware settings, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and referral and subsequent URLs.

We use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit our website or use a DailyKarma service, and this may include using cookies or similar technologies (such as web beacons, pixels and ad tags) to recognize you and/or your devices. You can control cookies through your browser settings and other tools.

Location Information. When you use DailyKarma services, we may collect and process information about your location, including IP address and/or ISP or your mobile carrier. If you use our website or services from a mobile device, that device may send us information about your location. Most devices allow you to prevent location data from being sent to us.

Unique Application Numbers. Certain services include a unique application number. This number and information about your installation (for example, the operating system type and application version number) may be sent to DailyKarma when you install or uninstall that service or when that service periodically contacts our servers, such as for automatic updates.

 

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect, including any personal information about you, to provide and improve our services, to develop new ones, and to process donations.

We may also use the information we collect to personalize your experience on our website and with our services, to better tailor the features, performance and support of our services to you, and to provide you other personally relevant information, including information from third parties, that you may care about.

When you contact DailyKarma, we keep a record of your communication to help solve any issues you might be facing. We may use your email address or other contact information to inform you about our services, such as letting you know about upcoming changes or improvements, or in any other way we may describe when you provide the information. You can opt-out from receiving promotional messages from us. Please be aware that you will continue to receive communications from us relating to any payments you make, other services you request, and any service messages from us, including any legal notices.

Specifically for DailyKarma Giving Suite users that install the app, we collect the following information: store name, email address and Shopify merchant id. We use this information to associate donations to your specific Shopify account. Periodically we will also send you updates about DailyKarma and instructional emails to help answer any questions about our app. Your information is shared with our email service provider, Hubspot.

Communications. When accessing our services through our website or through e-commerce partners utilizing our technology through their websites, you are communicating with us electronically and consent to receive communications from us through DailyKarma services or your email. All marketing communications will only be sent if you opt in to receive communications and will give you an option to opt out of communications at any time.

 

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this policy.

For processing and distribution of donations. We share information with trusted businesses or persons to process donations, including credit card or other payment processors. In addition, if you make a donation (including in connection with a sweepstakes our through any of our apps) we share your personal information with The GoodCoin Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity and as a result must disclose significant donor information (those making gifts of more than $250,000 or more) to the US Internal Revenue Service. For the vast majority of donors transactions can remain confidential. The charities we serve appreciate notification of a gift and with your permission we may share your name, contact information, date, and amount of your donation. We typically do not provide this information unless asked to do so by the donor, generally in the situation where a gift “in memory of” or “in honor of” is being made. They do not sell your information nor do they provide it to third parties. The GoodCoin Foundation does not store banking information (bank card numbers, bank accounts, and alike) and only receives notification of your gift and any additional information you provide to DailyKarma. The GoodCoin Foundation is PCI compliant and actively maintains saveguards to protect your data.

To Subcontractors. We may disclose personal information to contractors, subcontractors and third party service providers we use to support our business and help us provide our services.

Your Profile and Activity. If you have a DailyKarma account, we may display your Profile name, Profile photo, and actions you take (such as donations and your causes) on DailyKarma or on third party applications connected to your DailyKarma account in our services. We will respect the choices you make to limit sharing or visibility settings in your DailyKarma account.

Information You Share. Our website or services may allow you to post comments and other content, and any information that you choose to post, including any personal information, may be available generally to the public. You may also choose to share your donation, cause or other activity on DailyKarma on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media sites through our service, which will also share personal information about you.

With your consent. We will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of DailyKarma when we have your consent to do so.

For legal reasons. We will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of DailyKarma if we have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to (1) meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (2) enforce our agreements with you, including investigation of potential violations, (3) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, (4) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of DailyKarma, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

 

Change of Control or Sale

If DailyKarma is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or asset sale we may share your information as part of the transaction or in preparation for it.

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction.

 

Accessing and Updating your Personal Information

You may update or correct your profile and account information through our account management tool. We aim to maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after you delete information from our services, we may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems.

 

Information Security

We make reasonable efforts to protect your personal information, but no company, including us, can fully eliminate security risks connected to handling information on the internet.

Where we have given you (or you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our website or your account, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the website or our products or services. We will retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in the policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

 

When this Privacy Policy Applies

Our Privacy Policy applies to the services offered by Daily Karma, Inc. and its affiliates, but excluding services that state that they are offered under a different privacy policy. If you are registering for or participating in a DailyKarma sweepstakes contest, participation is subject to the rules and regulations applicable to the sweepstakes. If this Policy conflicts with or is inconsistent with a statement in the rules and regulations concerning your privacy, the rules and regulations will apply.

Our Privacy Policy does not apply to services offered by other companies or individuals, including products or sites that may be displayed to you on our services, sites that may include DailyKarma services, or other sites linked from our services.

 

International Users

Our website and services are marketed and intended for use by persons in the United States and Canada to raise money for US based 501(c)(3) public charities. Personal information you provide may be processed on servers inside or outside the United States.

 

Your Rights Under the GDPR

Children under the Age of 13

Our website and services are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on our website, products or services. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child we will take steps to delete that information as soon as possible.

 

California “Do Not Track” Notice

Our website and services do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. Some third party sites do keep track of your browsing activities when they serve you content, which enables them to tailor what they present to you. Third parties can find out about you from the information you share on our website and services.

 

Changes

Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will post any privacy policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of privacy policy changes).
